Covent Garden Market

Covent Garden Market, located at 130 King Street in London, Ontario.

Covent Garden used to be a large, ugly, chaotic market full of diners and restaurants, fresh fruit and vegetable vendors, butchers, bakers, people selling odds and ends and used goods, etc. to crowds of shoppers.

Years ago, that was torn down and the City of London invested a lot of taxpayer money into building a smaller, sterile building where a few corporate vendors try to sell commercially prepared jams and expensive cupcakes. Except there are no customers.

The building next to “The Skill Centre” sign used to be a Woolworths. Also long gone.

Spageddy Eddy’s

Spageddy Eddy’s is a long time dive restaurant located in an alley off 428 Richmond Street in London, Ontario.

Decent food and good service. It used to be a good place to get a late night meal, but like so many places downtown its hours have been cut way back.

Dodging homeless people in the alley is part of the charm.

All you can eat buffet. Salads, sauces, cabbage rolls, sausages, chicken, pork, bacon, deserts, etc. Lots of options, authentic and delicious.

The Stettler Mall is located at 6600 50 Ave in Stettler Alberta.

A mall so obscure it has basically no online presence.

One anchor still open as a liquidation centre. Many of the other stores marked on the signage are long out of business (e.g., the headliner Peavy Mart.)

Small Asian type noodle restaurant in the food court. Used clothing store. Nail salon. Shoe store. Dollarama.

Clean and well maintained.

The Record Cavern

Located at 5121 50th Avenue, in Red Deer Alberta.

Small and dark. Much darker than the photos indicate.

An interesting collection of used vinyl, leaning toward things you would have heard on Canadian radio in the 1980s and 1990s. Some oddities too.

Everything in good condition, and a lot of it surprisingly well priced.
